The City of Brewer is seeking a highly organized, friendly team player to fill the position of on-call Library Aide. If you are seeking meaningful work with real community impact, this is for you! This position is part-time on-call, working a varying schedule; hours include some mornings, at least two afternoons/evenings per week, and Saturday hours are a must.
Tasks involve circulation, patron assistance, and display creation. Other duties may include various tasks or projects, such as cataloging assistance, InterLibrary Loans, Archives projects, event facilitation, and circulation tasks.
The minimum qualifications for this position include a high-school diploma or GED equivalent, strong technology skills and knowledge; experience and/or training with library systems is helpful. The successful applicant should possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills; open and flexible work availability; ability to work independently or with a team; interest in library tasks and systems; interest in and affinity for working with people of all ages and backgrounds; willingness and ability to quickly learn new tasks; and passion for the work and mission of libraries. Voracious readership and library experience is preferred. Employment is subject to background pre-employment checks.
