General Description of Position:
The primary goal of the College Connection Coach is to establish
relationships with a caseload of high school students to encourage
and assist toward enrollment at Ivy Tech Community College. The
coach will increase the conversion rate of traditional age applicants to
Ivy Tech and provide strategic guidance to high school students for a
complete pathway to high wage/high demand employment. The
Coach will also work closely with the assigned high school(s) and Ivy
Tech stakeholders on dual credit/dual enrollment while identifying
gaps in dual credit/dual enrollment offerings that must be available to
lead to an Ivy Tech credential/conversion.
As an outstanding and accessible option for many high school
students, including those without a post-secondary plan, Ivy Tech will
be at the forefront of the Coach's referral plan.
This grant-funded position will be campus-based within the
Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township with work and
travel to the assigned Ivy Tech Community College – Indianapolis
downtown.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one coaching that supports college attainment and
career exploration while complementing services available through
high school, college, or the community, including college exploration
services, admissions processes, financial aid and scholarship
resources, the course selection and advising, and development of an
academic career plan.
Utilize IvyConnect (CRM) to track the Ivy Tech application and
conversion process efforts.
Works with identified college and/or career-bound high school
students. Assists career-bound students by identifying career
pathways that lead to credential attainment resulting in employment
opportunities immediately after high school graduation or a pathway
to continuing their college studies post-graduation.
Complement services that may be available through high school,
college, or the community, including college exploration services,
admissions processes, financial aid, and scholarship resources.
Utilize community resources that support student access and success in
college.
Provide support for employer partnerships.
Coach students on the transitions from high school to Ivy Tech to work.
Implement student career workshops, which may involve on-campus
activities, tours, industry visits, and other experiential learning
opportunities.
The coach and high school guidance counselors will support dual credit
registration on the DualEnroll.com platform.
Inform students of the Knowledge Assessment process to help identify
student eligibility for dual credit/dual enrollment classes.
Participate fully in all school activities targeted to students and parents
logically associated with the college process, including first-year
orientation, freshman student/parent nights, career days, FAFSA
workshops for parents, and all other related programs
Communicate closely and regularly with the guidance staff at the high
school.
Communicate with students and parents the benefits of Ivy Tech and
Dual Credit.
Conduct all activities at the school within the guidelines of the respective
school and state law
Attend Ivy Tech on-campus recruitment programs, dual credit nights,
New Student Orientation, and other programs logically associated with
the coaches' role.
Must stay current with Ivy Tech academic programs and resources,
admission and registration processes, career and higher education
trends, and Indiana Department of Education requirements.
The Coach will attend Ivy Tech meetings, training sessions, and other
activities as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
A minimum of one year of relevant professional work experience is
preferred.
Must be able to pass a background check and be able to work in a high
school setting.
Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects required.
Must possess excellent relationship-building skills, including working
successfully with diverse populations, including (but not limited to)
college and school personnel, teachers, and prospective students.
Must possess effective communication skills (phone, email, and written)
and experience in public speaking. Proficiency with Microsoft
Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) is required;
experience with a Customer Relationship Management tool is preferred.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, have a valid driver's license, be willing
and able to travel, and work a flexible schedule that may include
evenings and weekends.
Must demonstrate the ability to promote an inclusive environment that
