Part time jobs are usually thought of as jobs that you do before you get a career. Many people have part time jobs while they are still in school, or during the summer. Also, many people have part time jobs while they are looking for a full time job that is better suited to their career hopes. However, there are many part time jobs that actually might lead to a future for you, if you put in the time and effort. This article is about jobs that can create a future for you.

The main question to ask yourself when looking at a part time job is if it can go anywhere or if you can go anywhere doing it. For instance, simply working as a customer service representative might seem like a part time job that doesn't go anywhere. However, you should remember that there is always a higher step. If you work for a customer service team long enough, and if you are good enough, chances are that you can get promoted to a manager position. Even further than that are the people who manage the managers, and so on. Working in customer service usually allows you to have something to shoot for. Also, the jobs that are higher up on the scale tend to pay more, and tend to have full time hours as well.

Working in the hospitality industry is another place in which you can turn a part time job into a job for your future. For instance, working as a driver, a receptionist, or even as a maid in the hotel industry allows you to have open doors within that company. When a position opens up in management or as an auditor, you might be the first person considered, if you've performed well at your part time responsibilities. The same thing goes for retail jobs. Even if you start out working at a department store for part time wages, you can get promoted to a manager position and can continue to be promoted even further up the chain for quite a while. All of these jobs allow you to have a future within the same company.

There are several great part time jobs that can eventually lead to full time work, or even home based work on your own schedule. Therefore, if you are interested in having a future in the same place you start your part time employment, it is worth it to try out one of these jobs.

Pharmacy technicians work in the health care field, in hospitals or clinics. They basically help pharmacists prepare prescriptions. This is a part time job because you can start out with little or no knowledge of pharmacies, and work your way up into a career. You can also eventually work your way towards getting a certification, which will allow you to have more money and better job security. You can expect to earn more than $12 per hour working at one of these jobs.

Tax preparation is another part time job that can turn into full time employment. As a tax preparer, you would help people file their taxes, and you'd start out working for a bigger company or certified tax preparers. As time goes on, you will learn more and more about taxes and how to prepare them. You can be promoted within the company, or you can even open up your own tax preparation business. Many people who are tax preparers also work at another job, because January 1st to April 15th is the big and busy season for tax preparers. This can lead to a self-employment position, where you have another career but are able to make money for yourself during certain months as a tax preparer.

Dental assistants are another group where there is potential for full time employment. These are the people who help dentists with procedures. You might prepare equipment, take X-rays, or even tend to patients. This is a great part time job because dentists are rarely open in the evenings or on weekends. Also, you can move up in this field or even consider getting your degree as time goes on, so that you can become certified and earn more money.

If you are a personal or home care aid, you can create a great career out of a part time job. These are jobs in which you will work either in the homes of people who are elderly or who need special care, or in hospitals or assisted living facilities. You get to work with people, helping them to perform everyday tasks. Also, there is a lot of room to move up on the ladder and earn more money as well as work better schedules. This can also be an opportunity for home based employment, as you can market yourself and your services and therefore work your own hours for your own pay.

You might think of receptionists as temporary employees, but being a receptionist in a business is actually a way to work your way up. Many times companies promote from within, and by being a receptionist you will learn about the way the company works and the things that they handle. When jobs open up, you will be able to apply for them, and earn yourself more money. If you pay close attention to the company you are working for, you can work your own way up the corporate ladder.

Library assistants are the same way. You might start out working by re-shelving books and helping patrons, but soon you could find yourself promoted to a full time librarian or other position within the library itself. Working in a library is also a great part time job because they are not open in the evenings or on the weekends as much, so you will not have to worry about strange schedules.

There are all types of jobs that you might be able to find that will allow you to move up to a better and more consistent full time position. Simply ask yourself when you start a part time job if there could be a future in it for you. If there is, work hard and do your best so that you can get promoted.
